Making the Best of the Golden Years

The Golden Years

"Nor love thy life, nor hate; but what thou liv'st,
Live well, how long or short permit to  heaven"
 -
John Milton

This site is intended to show you the art of growing old gracefully, the joy of retirement, and the formula to keep young, stay happy and healthy in body and spirit in your golden years.

Life after 60 is not all sliding downhill and heading to the desert of emptiness, uselessness, senility and misery but rather it is arriving at the oasis of plenty - plenty of time to acquire more  knowledge,  learn new skills that you have the talent and inclination for, seek adventure to add to your vast experience, take a  leisurely holiday, take up interesting hobbies which you have always fancied, pursue  meaningful activities, volunteer your service to the community service and more....

All these can now be done in your golden years without the stress and  pressure of meeting deadlines, without feeling guilty of taking things easy, without having to achieve, be productive or face  examinations.

Retirement can be an active, positive, fulfilling and meaningful chapter in life.

Your knowledge and experience, accumulated over the years, coupled with the correct attitude, provide you with endless opportunities for learning and enjoying your golden years.

To learn you need to keep mind and body healthy. When the mind is stagnant, it deteriorates faster. An inactive body leads to stiffness or atrophy of muscles. While we cannot stay immortal, we can still keep as healthy as possible in mind, body and spirit till the end.

The quality of lifestyle, mental and physical abilities, are in one's own hands - avoid the risk factors that cause ageing. Genes alone do not determine ageing. Lifestyle also determines how we age.

"Feeling strong and strongly feeling.
Being glad and glad of being.
Care for need and needing caring.
Sharing self and selfless sharing.
Full of spirit spirit filling.
Will is warm and warmly willing.
Giving joy enjoy the giving.
Life is love and love is living. "

     - Joseph Byron

"Old age is not a disease. Because
a person is old, he is not inadequate.
There is youth in old age, and beauty
too, if we only have the eyes to see."

     - It Gives Me Great Pleasure. Herbert Prochnow
