          PHYSICAL & MENTAL CHANGES.

" To be seventy years young is sometimes
far more cheerful and hopeful than to be f
orty years old. "

- Oliver Wendell Holmes

Subtle changes take place as one ages. They become evident as one gets older.

Limbs become feeble and senses lose their keenness; reflexes are unresponsive; stamina and libido wane; memory lapses are experienced; body shrinks due to calcium loss; organs become inefficient and immune system gets weaker.

These negative images are generally used to stereotype a Senior Citizen. Old age is not as bleak as it is made out to be.

Measures can be taken to delay and even overcome the ravages of old age, to live happily and healthily throughout ones retirement years.

"One man gets nothing but discord out of a piano; another gets harmony. No one claims the piano is at fault. Life is about the same. The discord is there, and the harmony is there. Study to play it correctly, and it will give forth the beauty; play it falsely, and it will give forth the ugliness. Life is not at fault."
     - Indiana Teacher

"Is it so small a thing
To have enjoyed the sun,
To have lived light in the spring,
To have loved, to have thought, to have done?"
     -  Matthew Arnold
