RELAXATION.

"We must use time as a tool and
not as a couch"
 -John F. Kenned

Boredom comes from idleness and inactivity. It degenerates into worry, anxiety and stress.

A sense of humor and an optimistic outlook can diffuse a tense situation. Laughing relieves tension. A positive attitude keeps depression away.

Stress can be reduced and boredom can be dissipated by occupying oneself  with interesting and relaxing activities.

Relaxation can be experienced by doing creative activities which can also be fun and give you a sense of achievement.

You can learn to cope with stress. Take a break from the activity that causes you stress by taking a walk in the park. Exercise and do things that you find relaxing.

Learn techniques of relaxation: Deep breathing can induce relaxation - stand at ease and breathe deeply and hold your breath for a few seconds before exhaling gently through the nose; do this several times till you feel relaxed.

Practice the relaxation techniques regularly and eventually it becomes a habit.

Adopt a relaxed attitude to life as you are retired and out of the stress of the rat race. There is no need to resort to drugs like tranquillizers, alcohol, cigarettes and the like, once you experience relaxed living. The key to relieving stress and tension is in adopting relaxed attitudes, relaxed mind, relaxed muscles and relaxed body. Add learning, sharing, caring and loving to make your life complete.

Tension and stress disappear  when you have learned the  techniques of mascular relaxation. Your ability to relax is an essential factor for good health and a fulfilling life.

If time hangs heavy on your hands the following quotation offers you food for thought:"....You can't save it, you can't borrow it, you can't loan it, you can't leave it, and you can't take it. We can do only two things with it: (1) use it, and (2) lose it. " -M.D.Baughman.

"Time passes quickly. There is nothing we can do about it except to see that, as far as possible, it passes fruitfully.
If in passing it lays up its store of good deeds done, noble ambitions clung to heroically, and kindness and sympathy scattered with a lavish hand, there will always be given to it a permanence and enduring quality that nothing can take away.
Take time to look - it is the price of success.
Take time to think - it is a source of power.
Take time to play - it is the secret of perennial youth.
Take time to read - it is the source of wisdom.
Take time to be friendly - it is the way to happiness.
Take time to laugh  - it is the music of the soul."  -

"The difficulties, hardships, and trials of life, the obstacles one encounters on the road to fortune are positive blessings. They knit the muscle more firmly and teach self-reliance. Peril is the element in which power is developed."
