CONCLUSION (Fulfilling Life)

"Every life is unsatisfactory until its owner has made up his mind what he means to do with it."  -Information.

"There is no point to retirement if you sit on your backside all day."
-Briton Arthur Salmon, 83, who says his work as a paperboy since 6, keeps him fit and young.

Your experience of whether life is satisfactory or otherwise is reflected in your answer to this question posed by Wayne Dyer: "Have you really lived 10,000 or more days, or have you lived one day 10,000 or more times?"

You do not have to stop dreaming when you are 60 and beyond. "Always live your life with one more dream to fulfill.  No matter how many of your dreams you have realized in the past, always have a dream to go. Because when you stop dreaming, life becomes a mundane existence." -Sara Henderson.

You can do much for yourself. To stay happy and healthy in your golden years you have to help yourself by exercising regularly, eating a well balanced diet supplemented by antioxidants and multi-vitamins, freeing your mind from worry by engaging in enjoyable activities, keeping warm relationship with family members, having enough sleep and getting an annual medical check-up of your overall health. These slow the progress of ageing and keep your body and mind functioning well into your golden years.

If your mind is actively engaged and your relationship with relatives and friends is warm your physical ability improves at the same time.

Hypertension is a common ailment among the old and if not checked it leads to other serious medical problems like stroke, cardiovascular and kidney  diseases. Get your blood pressure checked regularly. It is advisable for man to go for a colonoscopy and get the prostrate checked every few years and for woman to have pap smear test and mammography once a year.

Adopt a balanced diet that is low in sugar and fat and high in fibers, such as fresh vegetables and fruit to stay healthy.

All the benefits obtained from exercise, nutrition, vitamins, antioxidants and even medication are possibly negated by smoking, excessive consumption of alcohol, chemical pollutants and indulging in hard drugs.

Smoking is known to be the cause of lung, throat and colon cancers and cardiac and respiratory diseases.

Consume less calories to live long and healthy as the heart is greatly stressed in an overweight person.

Take the first steps to live a healthy lifestyle if  you have not already done so. It is not too late to stop smoking, to begin an exercise regime, to start adopting a balanced diet etc. and you can then see your life transformed and an improvement in your health.

Research shows that a person is never too old to change his bad habits be it smoking,  unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, excessive consumption of alcohol and the like. Even if you are past sixty you can benefit from the changes to a healthier lifestyle. The risk of heart disease decreases as soon as you cease smoking and begin to take regular exercise.

The old can recover functions lost previously by a risky lifestyle. When a person gives up smoking the risk of heart disease, cancer and stroke, falls. Benefits to good health comes also when you eat in moderation e.g. less calories, less fatter foods, less salt.

Before you undertake any fitness  program or take any form of supplements or are considering HGH (Human Growth Hormone) therapy consult your doctor first. Mega doses of supplements may be harmful to your health.

Add golden and premium years to life, and fulfilling and meaningful life to years.
